Oliver Reed was a powerhouse on and off the screen. The actor's tragic passing in 1999 has become almost mythologized. He was on a break from filming Gladiator when he went to Valletta, Malta. Reed challenged sailors from the HMS Cumberland to arm-wrestling and drinking competitions. He finished off three bottles of rum, eight pints of beer, and several whiskey shots before he collapsed and was taken to hospital where he later passed away.
